Exber, Zahringer lead early at British Senior Amateur

Americans lead the way after Round 1 at Royal Aberdeen with Brady Exber, George Zahringer and others in the mix

ABERDEEN, Scotland (Aug. 7, 2013) -- The United States is well represented at the British Senior Amateur. Occupying the top four positions on the leaderboard, Americans are in control early on at Royal Aberdeen. Brady Exber and George Zahringer fired 2-under 69s to lead the way. They're one up on Chip Lutz and Patrick Tallent. Lutz, of course, is going for his third straight crown at the British Senior Amateur. Other Americans in the mix after Round 1 include: Stanley Kinsey (T6, E), Don Marsh (T13, 2-over), Steven Ford (T13, 2-over) and Paul Simson (T21, 3-over). The Seniors Open Amateur Championship was the first championship to be initiated by The R&A. It made its debut at Formby in 1969 as a qualifying event for the World Senior Amateur Team Championship, which had begun in 1967 under the auspices of the World Amateur Golf Council.
