Doug Pool wins Golfweek Senior Am

Pool won by 8 shots while Ted Smith and Jack Lamey also took home divisional victories

LA QUINTA, Calif. (April 24, 2012) -- Douglas Pool fired a final-round 69, further distancing himself from the field, taking home the 2012 Golfweek Senior Amateur at La Quinta Resort & Club's Mountain Course and the PGA West TPC Stadium Course. Pool (71-71-69--211) was in second place after Round 1 but followed his first-round 71 with the same score in the second round. The closest competitor was Doug Potter, who fiished eight shots back with a consistent 74-73-72--219. Bob Kain (73-75-72--221) and Steven Hakes (74-76-73--223) finished fourth and fifth, respectively. In the Super Senior Division, Ted Smith (72-68-72--212) rolled to a victory as impressive as Pool's win. The nearest competitor was runner-up Bob Fouke, who finished eight shots back. Jack Lamey won the Legends Division by two shots over Bob Wernick.
