Don Reycroft maintains slim lead at North & South Senior

PINEHURST, N.C. — Don Reycroft of Norfolk, Mass. maintained his slim one-shot lead on Wednesday at Pinehurst Resort, shooting two-under par 70 on course No. 8 on day two of the North & South Senior Amateur. In Tuesday's first round, playing at course No. 1, Reycroft carded a six-under par 64, making five birdies to post 31 on the back nine before shooting one-under 33 on the front to go bogey-free. Hot on Reycroft's tail is Paul Simson — the same guy that sat directly below him on the leaderboard after the opening round. Simson, of Raleigh, N.C., also shot 70 on Wednesday, following up a 65 the day before. The 54-hole tournament will be played at three separate Pinehurst Resort courses, including courses 1, 5, and 8. Day one was played on No. 1, the property's original course built in 1898. Day two moved to No. 8, the 1996 Tom Fazio design, while the tournament will conclude Thursday at No. 5, designed by Donald Ross protege Ellis Maples in 1961 before being redesigned by Robert Trent Jones in 1974.
