DJ World Junior: Jackson Herrington, Vanessa Borovilos lead heading into final round

Team Brown, captained by Blades Brown, has taken a commanding ten shot lead in the team competition

Jackson Herrington of Dickson, Tenn., and Vanessa Borovilos of Canada, lead with 18 holes remaining at the Dustin Johnson World Junior Golf Championships at TPC Myrtle Beach in Myrtle Beach, S.C. 

Herrington shot a second-round 3-under 69 to propel to the top of the leaderboard. He has shot rounds of 71-69 to get to 4-under. Sterling Hurd of Austin, Tex., is in solo second place at 3-under, and Mason Howell of Thomasville, Ga., is in solo third place at 2-under.

Four golfers are tied at 1-under and T4 heading into the final round. First round leader Trey Marrion of Chesapeake, Va., shot a second round 4-over 76 to fall to T11 and 1-over total.

Herrington has been selected to the Tennessee Junior Cup four times. He also recorded a third-place finish at the Elite Invitational. He posted a second-place finish at the 2023 Bubba Conlee Junior Golf Tournament and a sixth-place showing at the 2023 AJGA Canebrake.

GIRLS DIVISION

Vanessa Borovilos took the individual lead in the girls competition at 3-under after shooting a 1-under 71 second round. She has shot rounds of 70-71 to take a three-shot lead over the field.

Borovilos, a Texas A&M commit, finished fourth in the 2023 Canadian Women's Amateur and made the match play portion of the 2022 U.S. Women's Amateur and the final 32 of the 2023 U.S. Girls Junior Amateur. 

Brynn Kort of Henderson, Nev., and defending champion Ryleigh Knaub of Debary, Fla., are T2 at even par. Amelie Zalsman of Saint Petersburg, Fla., is in solo fourth place at 1-over.

TEAM DIVISION

Team Brown has pulled away from the field and leads by ten shots. Team Brown consists of captain Blades Brown, Jackson Herrington, Aarav Shah, Kayla Bryant, and Annika Kohoutek

Team Dunham, Team Watts, Team Klein, and Team Culbreth are all T2 at 10-over.
