Defending NCAA Champion ASU wins Windy City Collegiate

In the medalist chase Maddie McCrary of Oklahoma State finished 6-under to win the title

HIGHLAND PARK, IL (October 3, 2017) - Eight-strokes back at the start of the day didn't prove to be an issue for Arizona State. On a day where the entire field was over-par the Sun Devils managed the round of the day, a 1-over showing, to finish 1-over for the tournament and as the winners of the Windy City Collegiate hosted by Northmoor Country Club. The defending NCAA champions were led by two players in the top-five; Linnea Strom (2nd; -5) and Olivia Mehaffey (6th; -1). Arizona State also received top-15 play from Roberta Liti (T12; +3). 36-hole leading Oklahoma State ended up second at 4-over following a disappointing 12-over final round, Michigan State was a distant third at 14-over, Florida at 18-over was fourth while in fifth came 19-over Duke. In the medalist chase Maddie McCrary of Oklahoma State finished 6-under as she edged out Strom for a one-stroke victory. McCrary used a final round 2-under 70 that included clutch birdies on Nos. 16 and 18 to win the title. The top-five of the individual standings was rounded out by Sarah Burnham (Michigan State) and Paz Marfa (Michigan State) in third at 4-under while Haley Moore (Arizona) was fifth at 2-under.
