SEA ISLAND, Ga. — Doug Hanzel of Savannah, Ga. and Rocky Costa of Alpharetta, Ga. both carded one-under par rounds of 69 on Monday at Sea Island Golf Club to share a one-stroke lead at the Jones Cup Senior Invitational.
Hanzel, who is the reigning 2014 champion, was out in 33 before shooting two-over 37 on the back side of Sea Island's Seaside course. Costa made three birdies and two bogeys, as well, en route to his opening round 69.
Just a shot back are Steve Hudson of Birmingham, Ala. and Jack Hall of Savannah at 70 while Vern Spurlock and Buzz Fly are two back after 71s. 19 players in total are within five shots of the lead.
