BRASELTON, GA (August 24, 2016) -- Chris Hall of Marietta began round two sharing the lead and after a 1-under-par 71 on Wednesday, heads into the final round with a three-stroke advantage at the Georgia Senior Championship. The 30th edition of this competition is taking place at The Legends at Chateau Elan, August 23-25.
Hall is at 4-under-par 140 (69-71) through 36 holes and is looking for his first title at the state's senior championship. Jeff Belk of Marietta, who shared the lead with Hall after the opening round, shot 2-over-par 74 in round two and sits three strokes back on the eve of the final round. Within striking distance is the two-time reigning champion, Doug Hanzel of Savannah. Hanzel, who has won this competition three times (2012, 2014, 2015), is a steady even-par 144 after the first two days.
The low round of the championship so far goes to Gay McMichael of Macon, who posted a 3-under-par 69 in round two. McMichael sits 1-over through 36 holes and is five strokes off the lead.
Now that 36-holes are in the books at the Georgia Senior Championship, 71 players made the cut at 19-over-par 163 and better. The final round gets underway tomorrow morning at 8:00 EST; the leaders will go off at 9:50 a.m.

Chris Hall scored five birdies and two bogeys over his first 18 holes, while Jeff Belk had a three-birdie, bogey-free outing. The co-leaders are the only players to finish round one under par. Frank Remmes of Lilburn came in at even-par 72. All others are over par.
The two-time defending champion, Doug Hanzel of Savannah, finished round one at 1-over-par 73 and will begin round two four strokes behind the co-leaders.
