Champions Cup: Ebalo, Horodesky lead loaded field

HOUSTON, Texas (May 1, 2014) -- Kenny Ebalo and Gregory Horodesky combined for a first-round 62 and hold the lead at the 2014 Champions Cup Invitational at Champions Golf Club. Playing the club's Cypress Creek course, Ebalo and Horodesky opened up a two-shot lead over Brady Exber and Kevin Marsh and the team of Brad Kropp and Randy Lance. Buzz Baker and Shane Heise are tied with Jess Bonneau and Jonathan Shipley for fourth place while defending Champions Cup winners Dan Crockett and Parker Smith sit tied for sixth along with James Minahan and Ryan Oliver. Champions is Jack Burke's club, and the Champions Cup is his invitational tournament. A a special place, full of history and worthy of the championships it has hosted, which include the Ryder Cup, the U.S. Open, and the Tour Championship, Champions Club plays host to the Champions Cup, a 72-hole four-ball event with no cut. It is a very popular tournament that attracts a national field. To be considered for entry, players must maintain a maximum USGA handicap of 3, and be at least 25 years old. Walking is required.
