Carter and Shimmin Win Senior Porter Cup Titles

Ron Carter is the only player under par after three wind swept days in Lewiston, NY; Wins by 9 shots at the Senior Porter Cup

LEWISTON, NY (Sept. 1, 2010) -- On a cold day with no sun and a three-club wind, Ron Carter fired a 66 to open the first round of the 2010 Senior Porter Cup. After a second round 71 and a final round 66 Carter eventually cruised to a nine shot victory over Rick Woulfe who came in with scores of 70-70-74--214. Doug Poole finished solo third with scores of 77-70-68--215 and John O'Malley fired a 70-73-73--216 to tie fourth with Chip Lutz who had 70-73-73--216. Last year's winner, Ray Sovik, finished in tenth place with scores of 74-74-72--219. In the Super Senior division Gary Shimmin (76-74-71--221) birdied two of the last three holes including the 18th to win by one shot over Skip Snow (77-73-72--222). Second round leader Fred Silver (74-74-77-225) tied third with Jim Sechrist ( 73-76-76--225) and Alan Foster (75-79-71--225).
