Michael Roland and Arlis Pike birdied 3 of their last 4 holes to win the 45th Carolinas Sr. Four-Ball

DATAW ISLAND, SC – Final round results of the 45th Senior Four-Ball Championship of the Carolinas Golf Association hosted by Dataw Island Club (Cotton Dike) in Dataw Island, SC on Thursday, April 18, 2013 (6416 yards, par 36-36—72, 71.2/132).

Michael Roland, 61, of Winston-Salem, NC and Arlis Pike, 65, of Kernersville, NC birdied three of their last four holes to win the 45th Carolinas Senior Four-Ball Championship. The Triad-area duo led the championship wire-to-wire. They finished at 18-under 198 two strokes ahead of Bernie Shealy and Tim Teaster of Columbia, SC.

The win is Roland’s first CGA title while Pike wins his second CGA crown 21 years after winning the North Carolina Amateur Championship in 1992.

“We have been playing golf together for over 30 years so we know what each other can do. We just played very well this week,” stated Pike.

Defending champions, Paul Simson and Don Detweiler of Raleigh, NC finished at seven- under 209 in a tie for 13th place.

Top 20 teams won merchandise in the Dataw Island Club golf shop and are exempt for the 2014 Carolinas Senior Four-Ball Championship.
