CARMEL, Calif. (Nov. 8, 2012) -- The top three seeds won with ease in the first two rounds of match play at the 2012 California Womens Amateur Championship at Quail Lodge Golf Club.
Stroke-play medalist and No. 1 seed Angel Lin beat Debbie Wall 7-and-6 and Alexandria Oh 4-and-3 to move to Friday's quarterfinals where she'll take on Yoonhee Kim.
Casie Cathrea, who's an early-commit at Oklahoma State, and took the No. 2 seed after Tuesday and Wednesday stroke-play qualifying, knocked off Amanda Nealy 6-and-5 and rolled past Jamie Hoffman 5-and-3 to advance to the quarterfinal round where she'll take on seventh-seeded Lucy Li.
No. 3 seed Lynne Cowan, who reached the Round of 32 last month at the U.S. Women's Mid-Amateur Championship --- where she nearly knocked off eventual champion Meghan Stasi --- defeated Linda Kress 6-and-5 in the first round before taking down Tyler Akabane 2-up in Round 2.
The quarterfinals and semifinals will be played Friday with the championship match slated for Saturday.
