Calif. Senior Women's Amateur: Woodruff extends lead

The two-time champion and Pasatiempo member extends lead to six strokes after round two

CORRAL DE TIERRA, Calif. (May 22, 2012) -- Sandy Woodruff (75-77) of Santa Cruz extended her lead after the second round of the California Senior Women’s Championship. After posting a second round 77 Woodruff sits at 152, six strokes ahead of Mitsue Lewis of San Diego, who is at 158 (77-81.) Woodruff commented, “Corral de Tierra suits my eye and my game right now. So far I have been able to minimize my errant shots with some great up-and-downs. The greens are so smooth and the slopes are similar to my home course Pasatiempo.” Tied for third at 159 is Judy Miller of Tucson (76-83) and Sally Krueger of San Francisco (80-79). Defending champion, Tina Barker (83-77) moved up the leaderboard after posting a 77 with birdies on holes 2, 3, 5 and 13 and sits at 160, eight off the lead. The shotgun third and final round of this 34th annual event will commence at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday.
