Burda leads Knoll at Southern California Senior

PASADENA, Calif. (June 30, 2014) -- Jeff Burda continued his strong play with a 6-under 65 in the opening round of action at the 2014 Southern California Senior Championship at Annandale Golf Club. The opening-round effort gives Burda, who won the Trans-Miss Senior and Sacramento County Senior titles earlier this year, a two-shot lead over Jim Knoll heading into Tuesday's second and final round. Knoll shot 4-under 67 and is alone in second place, three shots up on Craig Steinberg in third. Like Burda, Knoll has played well as of late, too. Following his win at the California Senior Amateur in November, he's won the NCGA Senior and the Pacific Northwest Senior this season. Stephen Rhorer and Paul Shimoff both shot even par 71 Monday and remain in the hunt.
