Brooks, Bratton among 2020 Palmer Cup coaching staff

The resumes are distinguished when it comes to this year’s Palmer Cup coaches. The Golf Coaches Association of America has announced that Oklahoma State head men’s coach Alan Bratton and Duke head women’s coach Dan Brooks will lead the United States squad while Virginia head women’s coach Ria Scott and Washington head men’s coach Alan Murray will be at the International helm.

Lahinch Golf Club, one of the World’s premier courses and the site of the 2019 Irish Open will host the event on July 3-5.

With their leadership, a top field of competitors, and the beautiful course at Lahinch Golf Club, it’s going to be an incredible competition.”

Brooks led his Duke team to the national title in May while Bratton coached a Cowboy team that won six times last season.

The International coaching staff is equally tough. Scott, who hails from the Philippines, was an assistant International team coach last spring at the Alotian Club.

Murray, originally from Ireland, will begin his fourth year as the head men’s golf coach at the University of Washington this fall after coming to UW from Alabama-Birmingham. In his first year at Washington, Murray helped guide the Huskies to a third-place finish at the Pac-12 Championships and seventh place at the NCAA West Regionals

The International team won the Palmer Cup in Roland, Ark., in June, becoming the first visiting team to win on U.S. soil since 2009. The United States still leads the all-time series, 12-10-1.
