Brian Kern wins U.S. Senior Challenge by Two Shots

Jeff Burda runs away with the Super Senior Division while New Mexico Red earns team honors

SANDIA PARK, NM (June 7, 2018) - Brian Kern combined rounds of 75-74-77 to finish 10-over and as the two shot winner of the U.S. Senior Challenge hosted by Paa-Ko Ridge Golf Course.

In the final round Kern birdied only three-times, on Nos. 2, 10 and 15, but those three birdies proved to be provide just enough separation.

Kevin Sivage and Frank Ramey shared second at 12-over, John Hornbeck was third at 13-over while Jonathan Valuck took fifth at 14-over.

In the Super Senior Senior race Jeff Burda ran away with things carding a 3-over showing for the week to win by nine shots. Burda opened with tallies of 75-74 before saving his best for last in the form of a 2-under 70 that included a hole-in-one on the 182 yard par-3 4th and three birdies that offset a triple-bogey and a bogey.

Bev Hargraves was a distant second at 12-over and in third it was Charlie Horn at 14-over.

The team title was won by the 8-under New Mexico Red squad comprised of Pat Fogerty, Jack Slayton, Anton Salome and Kevin Sivage.
