Brett Coletta finishes Australian PGA First Round at even-par

Curtis Luck shot a 4-over 76 in the first round and he will have to go low in the second round to make the cut

BENOWA, Queensland (December 1, 2016) -- The first round of the Australian PGA began nicely for Curtis Luck but when all was said and done he had to sign for a 4-over 76. Playing in European Tour season opening event Luck birdied the 13th hole, his 4th hole, to reach 1-under but that proved to be one his only bright spot of the day. Luck gave the birdie back one hole later and after turning in even-par 36 he proceeded to bogey four holes over the course of his final nine at Royal Pines Resort for a closing 4-over 40. Fellow amateur Brett Coletta is also in the field this week and he completed his first round with at even-par 72. First round play was suspended late in the day due to the threat of lightening, forcing Coletta to play his final six holes the following morning. Upon returning to the course Coletta parred all six holes. Prior to the suspension of play Coletta had rolled in birdies on the 5th and 6th holes before carding his first bogey on the 7th. The Queensland Open winner bogeyed the 11th to drop to even-par where he would remain the rest of the round.
