PORTSMOUTH, RI (August 18, 2009)--Charlie Blanchard (Wannamoisett CC) successfully defended his title at the 26th Stroke Play Championship at Montaup CC. He shot -7 under par 206 with rounds of 69-68-69. Rhode Island Amateur Champion Bobby Leopold (Potowomut CC) finished second after shooting rounds of 70 and 73 today for a total of -1 under par 212.
Dr. George Pirie (Valley CC) won the Senior Division finishing in a tie for 5th overall after shooting rounds of 71-71-73 for a three round total of +2 over par 215.
