Ashlan Ramsey leads Women's Trans National

Ashlan Ramsey again was able to come out on top of the field by carding a 69 for a two day total of 137 allowing her to win both the Medalist and Junior Medalist honors

TRUCKEE, Calif. (July 11, 2013) -- The second round of the 83rd Women’s TRANS National Amateur Championship was played today at Schaffer’s Mill Golf and Lake Club. Ashlan Ramsey again was able to come out on top of the field by carding a 69 for a two day total of 137 allowing her to win both the Medalist and Junior Medalist honors after the completion of the first two rounds. She is currently leading the field by five strokes with her closest competitors at a total of 142: Hannah Suh from UC Berkeley and Shu-Yin Liu. Ramsey started out today’s round a little slow but quickly refocused and was able to get back on track to keep her front nine at 36. She hit the ball with consistent precision 260 yards on the back nine with birdies on hole 11, 14, and 16 even with increasing wind as the round progressed. Ramsey is staying with long time Schaffer’s Mill members, Tony Hardy and his wife Molly Stuart. Hardy, who has a 12-handicap index, agreed to be Ramsey’s caddie for the week and they have proven to be a tough duo to beat. Ramsey reported that Hardy is very knowledgeable about the course and really can read the greens.” Hardy admitted that he has really enjoyed being with her and feels this is what golf is all about. “She really has a wonderful patience in how she approaches the game. She is very thoughtful about each shot but once she makes up her mind commits and executes.”
