Armand Melendez Wins Monterey City Amateur in Playoff

Melendez battled Justin Avery and Morgan Deneen in the three-way playoff

MONTEREY, CA (July 2, 2017) - It took extra holes but when all was said and done it was junior golfer Armand Melendez who was left holding the Monterey City Amateur trophy following a three-way playoff. In the playoff at Del Monte Golf Course, Melendez (71-70-74) was able to outlast Justin Avery (70-73-72) and Morgan Deneen (72-71-72). After 54-holes of golf the trio finished regulation tied at 215. Ryan Han (71-77-68--216) finished fourth while Blake Hathcoat (70-71-76--217) and Ryan Maund (72-73-72--217) shared fifth. SENIOR DIVISION In the Senior Division Terry Foreman (70-75--145) claimed the title by five shots. Jim Knoll (76-74--150) was second and in a tie for third it was Casey Boyns (75-78--153); Randy Haag (80-73--153).
