American Brady Exber wins British Senior Amateur

58-year-old from Las Vegas fends off talented field, wins by four

GANTON, England (August 8, 2014) — Brady Exber, despite a final-round 78, won the British Senior Amateur by four shots. Exber led by just a stroke entering Friday's final round but managed to extend his lead even with a seven-over par round. Conditions were brutal at Ganton Golf Club on the eastern shores of England as four-over 75 was the lowest round of the day. 73 was the lowest score in round two while first-round leader Anthony McLure of England shot 70 on day one. He eventually finished in a tie for third, five shots behind Exber. Second-place finisher Stephen East, of England, shot a 79 on Friday to finish four back. Exber has come close before at the British Seniors. Though he missed the cut last year at Royal Aberdeen, he tied for sixth in 2011 and finished solo fifth the following year. Last year's champion George Zahringer finished ten strokes back of the winner in a tie for 20th place. Back-to-back champion from 2011 to 2012 Chip Lutz finished in 12th place.
