Amateurs Fare Well at U.S Women's Sectionals

Amateur Women from around the country and the globe fared well in today's sectional qualifying for the 2011 U.S. Women's Open

SAN DIEGO, CALIF (May 18, 2011) -- Amateurs fared well in the first week of qualifying for the 2011 U.S. Women's Open. Earning their player's badges to the Broadmoor this July included a trio of players at Oak Valley Golf Club in Beaumont, Calif. Ariya Jutanugarn of Thailand led the way with a 5-under, two-round total of 139, while her sister also qualified with a score of 146. Gabriella Then of nearby Rancho Cucamonga finished second with a total of 143, 1-under-par. Mariah Stackhouse (143) heads to the famed Colorado course by beating out Kendall Martindale at the Druid Hills Golf Club outside of Atlanta. Victoria Tanco from Argentina fired a 2-under 142 at the Oaks Club in Osprey, Fla., while Doris Chen needed extra holes to cinch one of two spots awarded in a playoff. More sectional qualifying is slated for next week at 14 sites across the country.
