BRENTWOOD, California (March 15, 2009) -- Reid Scarff channeled his inner Phil Mickelson on No. 18 at Deer Ridge CC today, getting up-and-down from a nearly impossible hillside lie.
It was just what Scarff -- the winner of December's Christmas Classic -- needed to record a one stroke victory over Kevin Smith of San Jose. Smith was the only player in the field to break par either day, shooting a 1-under 70 at Deer Ridge today after a first round 75 at Shadow Lakes.
Both courses play tougher than the scorecard.
Ron Johnson won the Senior Championship by three strokes over Herb Jensen - he was rock solid, shooting 2-over 144.
In the Net Division, Kevin Logan of San Francisco recorded his first amateurgolf.com victory at 8-over 150.
