KANNAPOLIS, NC (June 7, 2017) - Concord, NC local Aman Gupta leads the field after the first two rounds of competition at the 53rd SignArt North Carolina Open Presented by Mobipaid.
The eighteen year-old amateur entered the first round in a four-way tie for first after an opening 66 (-5). His second round started tough with bogeys on two of his first three holes, but he balanced the ship and carded a 35-32=67 (-4) to earn a three-stroke lead at 133 (-9) going into the third and final round.
Defending Champion David Kocher and fellow amateur Thomas Eldridge are tied for second at 136 (-6). Wake Forest University Men's Golf Coach Jerry Haas, PGA, sits alone in fourth at 137 (-5).
One hundred sixty-eight of the top playing PGA Professionals and amateurs in North and South Carolina have come together for the 54-hole championship. The low 64 scores survived the 36-hole cut.
The final round will commence at 7:30 AM from the first and tenth tees with the leaders beginning their rounds at 9:00 AM.
