SAN GERONIMO, Calif. (JUly 21, 2013) -- Alex Franklin, the 2012 amateurgolf.com Tour co-Player of the Year, fired a final-round 66 to win the 2013 Marin County Amateur Championship at San Geronimo Golf Club.
The incoming freshman at Oregon State opened play with a 72 on Saturday and trailed leader Peter Thomsen by two shots. His red-hot 66 Sunday was enough to build a three-shot cushion, which he would not relinquish.
Brandon Gama shot 72-69--141 to take runner-up while Johnny Martridge and Esan Geroux were tied for third, four back of Franklin.
Thomsen, Matt Cohn and Tommy Economou were fifth at 143.
