Now Harris, who plays out of Formby Golf Club, finally has his trophy. He had a final-round 67 at the Leicestershire (England) Golf Club to hold off fellow Englishman Nick Day by a single shot. Harris, a reinstated amateur who previously played on the EuroPro Tour, was 5 under for 54 holes.
Harris’ first sentiment after raising the Logan Trophy? Relief.
“I played very nicely. The golf course is in fantastic condition but it is pretty firm and fast so you have to be careful where you hit it.
“I just tried to keep in the play as best as I could and see if I could get a couple of putts to drop. I only hit one driver today and it worked very nicely. I’m delighted to get my name on a trophy as prestigious as this one.”
Behind Day, two more Englishman rounded out the top 4. David Cooke was third at 3 under and Calum Metcalfe was fourth at 2 under.
William Smith was the highest American on the leaderboard in solo fifth at even par.
