NCGA Team Match turns into interclub match for Spring Creek

Spring Creek G&CC Saturday took home the title, defeating their counterparts, the Spring Creek G&CC Thursday team, 20-16. The match would come down to the 18th hole, with Mike Wiebe sealing the victory with a 1-up victory over Tim Harris. With the win, Spring Creek G&CC Saturday becomes the first Saturday squad to win the title three teams. Whitney Oaks (Thursday) has also won three overall titles.
“We have an amazing club of competitive golfers,” said Spring Creek G&CC Saturday captain Sam Vink. “It feels better than I thought it would to win it all. It’s amazing.”
In Singles play, the Saturday team got wins from Shea Rollins, Kyle Huckell, Shad Winter, Joseph Aldridge, Joel Tyrus and Wiebe. The Spring Creek G&CC Thursday team got wins from Jim Aartman, Michael Sipes, Jeff York and Mark Schroen.
In Four-Ball action, the Saturday team got wins from Huckell and Rollins, Winter and Aldridge and Wiebe and Tyrus.
THIRD PLACE MATCH
Wilcox GC took third place, defeating Aptos Seascape, 23-13. In Singles play, Wilcox got wins from Ken Morgan, David Latimer, John Miller, Mike Greer and Charlie Eglian. In Four-Ball, Wilcox got wins by the tandems of Latimer and Morgan, Malcolm MacDonald and Miller, Ryan Hake and Greer and Tim Kuhn and Eglian.

NCGA Team Match Championship
Participating clubs with 12 players per team compete
in matches during the summer with the top teams
from each region advancing to the Championship at
Poppy Hills. Format is as follows: A team of two players
plays the opposing team of two, playing three matches
simultaneously - two individual matches and a four-ball
match.
