BANDON, Oregon (May 7, 2014) -- Sherman
Haggerty and Ben Whipple used to play at
the same club near Sacramento -- El Dorado
Hills. Their partnership has found success
at many venues, and despite the fact that
Whipple moved to South Carolina, the duo
showed they still have the magic Wednesday
at Bandon Dunes. They won the Senior
division for the second straight year, edging
Paul Batchelor and Brian Mcguire Canada by
single shot.

Net Division winners: Randall
Schwartz,
Charles Purse |
Batchelor (a former Nova Scotia provincial
champion) had a 12-foot birdie putt to tie on
the final hole, but when it slid past, it set up
Whipple (picture, top left) with a 3-foot par
putt to win --
ensuring he will make the trip from South
Carolina next May 1-5 to go for the three-
peat.
In the Net Division, frequent runners-up
Randall Schwartz and partner Charles Purse
finally got their name on the cup, edging the
Fishman brothers (who fired 7-under 65
today) by a single shot.
Tournament organizer Pete Wlodkowski
partnered with old pal Pete Davison

Championship Division winners: Pete
Wlodkowski, Pete Davison
|
(they met
40 years ago on a 9-hole muni in Connecticut)
to win the Championship division over
Matt Fisher and Craig Courtney, largely thanks
to a 3-under 69 in the final round.
All players had a blast, and spoke of returning
next year with hopefully more flights and
less days off from work. The 2015 tournament
will be May 1-5, Friday arrival and
Tuesday departure. Mark it down!
