Connor Williams leads Arizona State to opening lead at Big 12 men's championships

The Sun Devils lead the team competition by four shots while Williams leads by three shots entering the third round
Sophomore Connor Williams and the Arizona State Sun Devils put on a solid showing in the first and second rounds of the 2025 Big 12 Men's Golf Championships at the iconic Southern Hills Country Club in Tulsa, Okla.
The Sun Devils lead the team competition by four shots while Williams leads by three shots at the halfway mark.
Williams is currently ranked No. 72 in the Golfweek/AmateurGolf.com U.S. Rankings. He carded an opening round of even par 72 and a second round of 4-under 6 with six birdies and two bogeys.
2024 U.S. Amateur champion Jose Luis Ballester is in solo second place at 1-under. Preston Stout of Oklahoma State is in solo third place with two rounds of even par 72 and is four shots back of Williams.
Michael Mjaaseth of Arizona State and Wolfgang Glawe of Houston are T4 at 1-over.
Arizona State is 1-over at the halfway point in the team competition after rounds of 277-284. The Sun Devils have three golfers currently in the top five individually.
Oklahoma State is in solo second place at 5-over and TCU is in solo third place at 20-over.
According to Arizona State Athletics, the Sun Devils are 20-3 in head-to-head meetings with Big 12 opponents.
They undefeated against Arizona (2-0), Baylor (3-0), Colorado (1-0), Houston (3-0), Texas Tech (5-1), TCU (2-0) and Utah (1-0) and are 3-3 vs. Oklahoma State.
Also, according to Arizona State, the Sun Devils won 13 Pac-10 titles in their 45 chances, including a conference record six straight from 1995-2000.
In addition to the six straight Pac-10 titles, ASU's other seven Pac-10 titles were in 1979 (its first year in the league), 1981, 1989, 1990, 1993, 2008, and 2024.
