Oh has had a great first half of the season, recently winning the 44th Queen Sirikit Cup in New Zealand
15-year-old Soomin Oh, a student at Shinsung High School shot 14-under 274 following her rounds of 67-72-66-69 to register a two-shot win at the 48th Korean Women’s Amateur Championship at Yuseong Country Club in Daejeon, South Korea.
Oh, who is ranked No. 25 in the Golfweek/AmateurGolf.com Women's Rankings, entered the final round at 11-under, trailing the 54-hole leader, Min Seo Jung, by two strokes. Oh started strong with three consecutive birdies, overtaking Jung, who struggled from the beginning and couldn’t catch up with Oh for the rest of the round.
Oh shot a final round 69, compared to Jung’s 73, securing a two-stroke victory and her third title of the season.In March, Oh claimed victory in the individual category at the Queen Sirikit Cup in New Zealand, where she led her country to a record 23rd title in the team championship.
She soon followed this up with another win at the Dolmen Cup in Korea.
In March, she also secured a third-place finish at the Singapore Women’s Open, a professional event on the Korean LPGA Tour. Throughout 2024, Oh has competed in eight ranked events, achieving three victories and three top-10 finishes.
Her most recent accomplishment was a runner-up finish at the Bitgoeuljungheung Cup in May, where she narrowly missed the title by two strokes.
Min Seo Jung and Kyorim Seo finished joint runner-up at 12-under. Jung carded rounds of 68-67-68-73 and Seo shot 67-70-68-71 to achieve the feat.
