After losing last year to the Aggies, Mississippi State won the SEC championship for the first time in program history

One year after falling to Texas A&M in the SEC championships and missing out on making history, Mississippi State did not let the opportunity pass them by again.

The No. 4 seed Bulldogs defeated the No. 3 seed Aggies 3-2-0 at Pelican Golf Club in Belleair, Fla., to win their first SEC championship in program history.

Mississippi State got wins from Izzy Pellot, Avery Weed, and Julia Lopez Ramirez to get three points and win. Blanca Fernandez Garcia-Poggio and Cayetana Fernandez Garcia-Poggio secured wins for the Aggies, earning their two points.

Lopez Ramirez backed up her No. 4 ranking in the Golfweek/AmateurGolf.com Women's Rankings, winning her match over Jennie Park of Texas A&M 5&4.

The quarterfinals provided maximum entertainment, with No. 1 seed South Carolina falling to No. 8 seed LSU 3-2-0 and No. 2 seed Auburn falling to No. 7 seed Georgia 3-1-1. Elsewhere in the quarterfinals, No. 4 Mississippi State took down No. 5 Kentucky 3-1-1, and No. 3 seed Texas A&M took down No. 6 seed Arkansas 3-1-1.

In the semifinals, with the two top seeds already taken down, the stage was set for the top two remaining seeds to set up the rematch.
