CHARLOTTE, N.C. (April 13, 2006) -- Final round results of the 8th Carolinas Women's Senior Amateur Golf Championship of the Carolinas Golf Association hosted by Raintree Country Club, North Course, in Charlotte, NC. (Par 36-36--72, 5448 yards).
Local favorite Patty Moore of Charlotte, NC won by four strokes to capture her third Carolinas Women's Senior Amateur championship title. Moore started off strong by making a birdie on the first hole. She went on to the second hole and made a chip-in from off the green to make another birdie. She made six birdies in all throughout her final round to shoot an even par round of 72. "I putted great today, I had one mistake on the back nine but other than that I held it together pretty well."
Local Raintree Country Club member, Melissa Sage has now finished as a runner-up in this championship three years in a row. "Maybe next year I will win finally", Sage said with a smile on her face. Newcomer, Kris Berger of Hilton Head, SC also finished tied for second and is looking forward to senior women's golf. Defending champion, Carole Jones of Hillsborough, NC finished alone in fifth place.
In the Super Senior division, Jessie Finucan of Summerville, SC won for a second time. The Super Senior division is for ladies 65 years of age or older and play a shorter course.
