Calif. Sr. Women's: Eaton withstands Cowan's rally
CORRAL DE TIERRA, CA (MAY 16, 2013) - Kim Easton of Tempe Arizona fired a final round 74 to capture the 35th Annual California Senior Women’s Amateur Championship title. Easton (80-73-74=227) carded birdies on holes 11,14, and 15 to finish one stroke in front of Lynne Cowen (78-80-70=228).
“It’s always nice to win,” Easton commented in her acceptance speech. “ This Corral course is fabulous and the Monterey area is gorgeous. I love it here!” As a reinstated amateur, she has won four Colorado State Amateurs and three Arizona State Senior Ams.
Runner-up Lynne Cowan, the four time California Women’s Amateur Champ nearly closed the 5 shot, two-round gap, by shooting the only sub-par round of the tournament. This is my first senior event and I look forward securing my first win.”
