Carolinas Four-Ball moves to match play

CAMDEN, SC – Second round stroke play qualifying results of the 62nd Four-Ball Championship of the Carolinas Golf Association hosted by Camden Country Club in Camden, SC on Thursday, May 2, 2013 (6421 yards, par 35-35—70, 71.6/128).

Morgan Watt of Mayesville, SC and Kyle Eckenroth of Camden, SC fired a second round 65 for a nine-under 131 total to take medalist honors. Watt and Eckenroth will be the number two seed for match play that begins on Friday at Camden Country. Eckenroth is a member at Camden CC.

The field was cut to the low 31 teams and defending champions for match play. Defending champions, Matthew Crenshaw and Blair Bowland of Burlington, NC are the defending champions and will be the number one seed.

A four-for-one playoff was held for the final match play position. Jay and Gus Sylvan of Columbia, SC secured the final spot on the fifth playoff hole.

ABOUT THE Carolinas Four-Ball

The Four-Ball Championship of the Carolinas is a perennial favorite with the Carolina's best amateur golfers. Two rounds of Four-Ball stroke play format (one best ball of the two) determine the 32 teams to advance to match play. Entry is open to any male amateur golfer who is a legal resident of one of the Carolinas, is a member in good standing of a club which is a member of the Carolinas Golf Association (CGA) and has a current (within 90 days of opening date) USGA handicap index at a CGA member club. The championship team receives merchandise, trophies and names inscribed on the Hale Van Hoy Trophy. Stroke play qualifying medalists’ names will be inscribed on the Joe B. McCarley Cup. Additional prizes are awarded to all match play contestants.
