Phoenix Amateur: Quezada rolls to 14-shot win

PHOENIX, Ariz. (March 25, 2013) -- Anthony Quezada shot rounds of 64-64-70 to win with ease at the 2013 Phoenix City Amateur Championship.

Quezada opened play with a 64 at Maryvale Golf Course and shot the same score Saturday at Aguila. He took an 11-shot lead into Sunday’s finale at Papago, where he again shot the low round of the day --- a 70 --- to finish the event 14 shots ahead of the field.

Kenton Steiner was second after rounds of 67-72-73--212.

Dustin Dalzell, eight-time champion Ken Kellaney and Jerry Loftis all finished tied for third place, 16 shots back of Quezada.

Michael Morris (1st), Tony Petronis (2nd), John Gunderson (3rd) and Aaron Brienzo (4th) also won titles.

ABOUT THE Phoenix City

54 holes, played at three different area courses. Tournament is open to anyone with a handicap of 15.0 or less. Four flights based on handicap, all played at gross.
