Texas North Mid-Am: 67 gives Atkinson 2nd round lead
TROPHY CLUB, Texas (March 23, 2013) -- The second round of the 2013 North Mid-Amateur presented by UST Mamiya got off to late start after a storm delayed tee times an hour and forty-five minutes. When the storm cleared, the field took advantage of the calm conditions and receptive greens. The calm weather allowed over half the field to finish before turning into heavy rain that caused another delay of almost 40 minutes. Fortunately enough light was left to easily finish the play of round two.
Zach Atkinson fired the low round of the tournament posting a 5 under 67 to take the overall lead at 4-under par. Atkinson bogeyed only one hole during his round while birdying three holes on each nine. Brandon Scott played exceptionally well shooting 69 to move into second place at 2-under par. Scott had 2 bogeys on the day and birdies on 1,2,10,12, and 16. Jay Csipkes and David Reynolds both equaled their output from round 1 shooting an even 72 to tie for third at even par going into the final round tomorrow.
The final round of the 2013 North Mid-Amateur will begin Sunday morning at 8 a.m. off holes #1 and #10.
