Alabama wins Puerto Rico Classic
RIO GRANDE, Puerto Rico (Feb. 20, 2013) -- Fifth-ranked Alabama pulled away from second-round co-leader Oklahoma to win the Puerto Rico Classic in Rio Grande, Puerto Rico, on Tuesday, beating the Sooners by seven shots to claim its second victory of the season.

North Carolina State’s Albin Choi came from behind to win the individual title, his third in his past six starts.

Coming down the stretch tied, Alabama made eight birdies and one bogey on Nos. 14-18 and No. 42 Oklahoma made an eagle, four birdies and five bogeys. Alabama finished the tournament at 33-under 831. The Crimson Tide's 14-under 274 on Day 3 was the low team score for the week.

SMU finished third, 10 shots behind Oklahoma. Georgia finished fourth at 12-under 852 for the week and Georgia Tech rounded out the top five at 6 under.

Choi's win was his seventh victory at N.C. State. He shot rounds of 70-69-65 to finish at 12-under 204 and win by two shots.

Oklahoma’s Will Kropp, Georgia Tech’s Ollie Schniederjans and Alabama’s Cory Whitsett finished in a tie for second at 10-under 206.
