SeaBest Inv.: No. 33 Tennessee takes it
PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. (Feb. 5, 2013) -- No. 33 Tennessee won the SeaBest Invitational at TPC Sawgrass on Tuesday, shooting 15-over 879 to finish four shots ahead of 26th-ranked Texas A&M. The Vols' Rick Lamb won the individual title by six shots with a 5-under 211 at the Players Stadium Course, site of the annual Players Championship.
This was Lamb's second consecutive collegiate victory. He closed the fall by winning the Gifford Intercollegiate. The SeaBest was the third victory of his college career. Lamb started the week ranked 71st in the Golfweek/Sagarin College Rankings. He shot 70-65-76 at Sawgrass. Texas A&M's Greg Yates finished second after firing 72-75-70.
The SeaBest also marked the collegiate debut of Tennessee's Oliver Goss, a freshman from Australia. Goss is No. 17 in the R&A World Amateur Rankings and was a quarterfinalist at last year's U.S. Amateur. Goss finished 16th at TPC Sawgrass (77-71-78). Jay Vandeventer was the Vols' second-best finisher. He finished sixth with a 6-over 222 total.
