Linville takes Kenmure CPGA Senior Open
Flat Rock, NC, (May 3, 2012) - It was a wonderful two days for the Kenmure CPGA Senior Open held at Kenmure Country Club, an 18-hole course beautifully set in the edge of the mountains of western North Carolina. Kenmure's challenging greens and difficult finishing holes proved to be a true test for the competitors.
Robert Linville, PGA of Greensboro, NC was the Overall Championship winner with rounds of 71-73--144. His even-par tournament total was good enough to hold off Jim Prusia, PGA of Charleston, SC who finished one back of Linville.
Amateur Dan Coker of Weaverville, NC made a good showing and had an interesting first round as his 7 birdies and 2 triple bogeys led him to an even par 72. Coker finished tied as the low amateur with Pat Thompson of Asheville, NC at 148 (+4). Coker and Thompson also tied for the Amateur 50-55 division. John Walters of Charlotte, NC won the Amateur 59 & Up division with a 77-75--52.
Rick Luzar of Pinehurst, NC came away with the Overall Super Senior division (65+). Luzar finished with a fantastic even-par 72-72=144. Close behind was Nick Avery of Goose Creek, SC was close behind with a 76-71--147.
