Seattle tops Fresno State to win Lamkin Grip Cup

ARROYO GRANDE, Calif. (March 23, 2012) -- Seattle University won the Lamkin Grip Cal Poly Challenge with a 3-2 win over Fresno State while the Cal Poly men's golf team placed third with a 3-2 win over Claremont-Mudd-Scripps in the match play tournament.

Utah State took home the consolation prize with a 3-2 win over Towson University with South Dakota State defeating the Cal Poly B squad, 4-1.

Cal Poly's Trevor Guthrie picked up a 4 and 3 win over Aron Larson while Justin Haley defeated Phillip North 1 -.

CMS' Brad Shigezawa defeated Scott Patterson 4 and 3 while Jordan Stein won 3 and 2 over Grant Martens.

With the match tied 2-2, Cal Poly Bryce Greeley needed one extra hole to defeat Matt Biggar, sinking a 15 foot put on the 19th hole, to lock up the match for the Mustangs.

The Mustangs will return to action when they travel to Oak Valley Golf Course in Calimesa to play in the Braveheart Challenge on April 9 and 10 hosted by UC Riverside.
