The Sally: Moriya Jutanugarn outlasts sister Ariya

ORMOND BEACH, Fla. (Jan. 14, 2012) -- Moriya Jutanugarn rallied in the final two rounds to outpace the field and her sister Ariya, claiming the 2012 Sally tournament title.

Trailing sister Ariya after two rounds, Moriya took the lead after Round 3 and hung on for a three-shot victory. Her 2-under, 70 was two shots better than Ariya, giving her enough breathing room for this important win. Ariya finished the four-day event 9-under.

Charley Hull finished third at 8-under.

The three top finishers were head and shoulders above the rest of the field. Fourth-place finisher Alex Stewart came in at 2-over for the event. Jaye Marie Green was 4-over.

Eligibility: A female from birth, that has reached the age of 16. All entries are accepted subject to Committee Approval. Tournament Information The Women’s South Atlantic Amateur Golf Championship (The SALLY) is played the second week of January each year, in Ormond Beach, Florida. Oceanside Country Club has been home to The SALLY since its beginnings in 1926. The tournament field consists of top amateurs in the US and the top finishers are frequently represent the U.S. for the biennial Curtis Cup team. As with many past players, 2001's winner Hilary Homeyer, along with fourth-place finisher Natalie Gulbis have gone on to attain their LPGA card. You will find many former SALLY players among the LPGA elite.
