Florida Mid-Senior South: Nicklaus, Veneziano win
WELLINGTON, Fla. (Sept. 11, 2011) -- In the South Championship, Gary Nicklaus, of Jupiter, and Jon Veneziano, of Mount Dora, held off the Defending Champions in a playoff to capture the title. After posting rounds of 64-62, Nicklaus and Veneziano would find themselves tied with the Defending Champions, Stephen Anderson, of Hobe Sound, and RJ Nakashian, of Palm Beach Gardens, after the pair posted a final round of 11-under par 61. The playoff would go five holes where Nicklaus would make birdie for the title.
The Mid-Senior Four-Ball Championships are each 36 holes of four-ball stroke play. In four-ball stroke play, two competitors play as partners, each playing their own ball. The lower score of the partners is the score for the hole. The field is flighted after 18 holes. To be eligible, players must be 40 years of age or older and members of the FSGA.
