Homan wins Mississippi Mid-Amateur
PHILADELPHIA, MISS. (July 31, 2011) - Despite the grueling temperatures at Dancing Rabbit Golf Club today, Clay Homan of Starkville, MS was able to charge up the leaderboard and capture another Mid Amateur title today.
Homan didn’t waste any time getting into the mix of things when he shot 4 under on his opening 9 holes to get to -6. This put him one shot ahead of 2nd round leader Tracy Cockerham of Hamilton, MS with 9 to play.
Although Homan was playing one group in front of Cockerham, the two managed to build some drama going into the final hole. With both players being at -7 for the tournament, Homan was able to birdie the 18th hole, while Cockerham could only make par.
Rounding out our top 5 finishers were Brad Riles of Madison at -1, Lee Gladden of Madison at Even par, Richard Reed of Starkville and Alan Ellis of Greenwood at +1.
