John Kline Super Senior: Smith takes round two lead
HOUSTON, Tex. (May 19, 2011) -- Round two of the 2011 Society of Seniors John Kline Super Seniors has finished at the historic Champions Golf Club in Houston. The large fast greens, combined with another blustery day made par an elusive target.

Wilkinson Indiana native Ted Smith was able to post an impressive 3-under par 68 for a two round total of 142, good for five shots over Danny Dean, Hollywood, SC (72-75), Denny Alexander, Fort Worth, TX (74-73), Howard Knowles, Houston, TX (74-73), Jim Hays, Prosper, TX (74-73) and Gunnar Bennett, Warrenville, SC (72-75).

In the seasoned division, Don Addington, Dallas, TX is atop the leaderboard with a two round total of 150, including rounds of 74-76. Bill Stallings, McLean, VA and Jackie Cummings, Tuscaloosa, AL are two shots back at 152.

The Champions Golf Club was host to a gala dinner Wednesday night, honoring General John Kline. Club member Bob Twaddell acted as MC regaling all in attendance with stories and fables of good times past.

Host Jack Burke, in a short and entertaining series of remarks, thanked the Society, it's members, and John Kline for an immeasurable contribution to amateur golf in America.

John Kline closed the evening with a captivating speech that included many highlights of his life and his golf.

Final round will be played Friday morning.
