Sun Country 4-Ball: Medina, Frias lead
SANTA ANA PUEBLO, N.M. -- As the lead groups made their way into the house and the dust started to settle, the event found its first outright leaders, Daniel Medina and Mike Frias of El Paso, Texas. The duo bettered their day one round by one stroke after posting a 65 and head into Sunday's final round with a one-shot lead at 11-under par.
Round one's co-leaders of Patrick Hanlon, Las Cruces, N.M. and Anton Salome, Socorro, N.M. equaled their first round five-under par 66 and lurk in second place. The entire flight is relatively close as eight different teams sit within six shots of the leaders.
Defending champions Steve and Tim Madigan, Rio Rancho, N.M. made the most significant move of the day after posting a 66 and crawling within three shots of the lead and claiming third place for the time being.
The President's Flight is led by Cale Jones and Brandon Rich. The team not only claimed first heading into the final round, but did it loudly by recording the low round of the tournament so far. Their seven-under 64 puts them at 10-under for the event and gives them a three-shot lead.
