S. Carolina Senior: Ford takes 5-shot lead

ELGIN, SC (May 11, 2011) -- Charleston’s Frank Ford shot a second round 67 for a two day total of 138 and holds a five shot lead over Jim Van Oottehem heading into the final round of the SCGA Senior Championship being at held at The Members Club - Woodcreek course.

Ford, a three time SCGA Senior Player of the Year, had a bogey free round along with five birdies throughout the day. The Country Club of Charleston member birdied holes four, five and seven on the front side to turn at 33 and then birdied the tough thirteenth and sixteenth par four holes on the back. Ford has never won the SCGA Senior Championship and came the closest in 2007 when he lost a playoff to Bill Palmer at Colleton River Plantation.

In second place is Seneca’s Jim Van Ooteghem who stands at one under par 143. Tied at even par 144 are Jim Martin and Mike Calkins both from Columbia. Defending Champion Bill Palmer came back strong with a score of 71 for a two day total of 147.

The final round will start at 8.00 off of #1 & #10 tees
