Florida takes Round 2 lead at SEC Championship
ST. SIMONS ISLAND, Ga. - The Florida men's golf team stretched its lead to six strokes on the second day of the SEC Men’s Golf Championship held at the Sea Island Golf Club Seaside Course. Florida finished the day with a 2-over-par team score of 282. The Gators are currently at seven-over-par (567) for the championship, with Tennessee six strokes back at 573. Alabama finished the day in third place (576), while defending SEC Champion Georgia is tied for fourth with Arkansas at 580.
Bank Vongvanij and Andres Echavarria led Florida on Saturday with even-par rounds. The low round of the day belonged to Alabama freshman Cory Whitsett, who shot a two-under 68.
LSU’s John Peterson remains the individual leader after shooting a one-over 71. He leads South Carolina’s Wesley Bryan and Florida’s Phillip Choi and Andres Echavarria by one stroke heading into Sunday’s final round.
