McKay, Burkey Three-peat at PNGA Women's Senior
BREMERTON, Wash. (September 22, 2010) – Loree McKay of Portland, Ore. and Ginny Burkey of Fircrest, Wash., shot a final round 1-under par 70 to capture their third consecutive title at the PNGA Women’s Senior Team Amateur Championship at Gold Mountain Golf Club in Bremerton, Wash.
Playing Four-Ball stroke play today, Burkey and McKay began the day with a 3-shot lead and didn’t give anything back making two birdies and one bogey to go along with the rest pars to give them a 3-shot win at 2-under par 213 overall. Having won this championship in 2008 and 2009 as well, the victory this week puts them in the company of Pat Krall of Allyn, Wash. and Patti Schillinger of Belfair, Wash. as the only two three-peat champion teams in the PNGA Women’s Senior Team history.
Finishing in 2nd place were 2007 champions Rachel Whittington of Lake Oswego, Ore. and Nancy Eglin of Yakima, Wash. who shot a final round 1-under par 70 to finish with a three round total of 1-over par 216. The overall net championship was won by Gretchen Klein of Hoquiam, Wash. and Kristy Whitcher of Belfair, Wash. who shot 15-under par 200.
