TAMPA, FL (March 16, 2010)--David Yarmitzky, of Sunrise, captured the Winter Series event run by the Florida State Golf Association at Tampa Palms Golf & Country Club in Tampa, March 15-16. He was joined in the winner’s circle by Tim Miller, of Venice and Alastair Walker, of Bonita Springs who won the Senior and Super Senior divisions respectively. This final individual event wrapped up the Winter Series points race as James Weick, Tim Miller and Ray Darmstadt topped their respective divisions.

David Yarmitzky, of Sunrise, won the Regular Division by three strokes. After carding a six-over par 78 in the first round, Yarmitzky held on for the victory, carding a 75 in the final round to win the tournament with a total of 153. This is Yarmitzky first Winter Series victory of the season. K C Fox, of Sarasota, finished in second place with rounds of 80-76 for a tournament total of 156. Mark Larsen, of Dade City, and Pete DeLongchamp, of Sebring, finished tied for third place with a tournament total of 157.

Tim Miller, of Venice, grabbed first place honors in the Senior Division. Miller followed his first round one-under par 71 with a three-over par 75, for a six stroke victory. This is victory goes along with Miller’s victory at Lake Wales earlier this season. Stephen Maddox, of Lakeland, finished alone in second place with a tournament total of 152. Kim Schwencke, of Temple Terrace, finished in third place with a tournament total of 153.

Alastair Walker, of Bonita Springs, captured the Super Senior Division by nine strokes. Walker went wire-to-wire to capture his first Winter Series title of the season. Walker fired a four-over par 76 in the first round and followed that with a 79 in the final round to secure the victory. Larry Martin, of Plant City, grabbed second place honors with a tournament total of 164. Chuck Phillips, of Bonita Springs, finished in third place with a tournament total of 170.

This event wrapped up the 2009-2010 FSGA Winter Series. James Weick, of Fort Lauderdale, won the 40-54 age division points race, and earned his exemption into the State Amateur Championship at Bay Hill Club & Lodge. Weick won two individual events and one four-ball event during the season. In the 55-64 age division, Tim Miller, of Venice, topped the division point’s standings. Miller won one four-ball event and two individual events on the season. Ray Darmstadt, of Cocoa Beach, won the 65 and over points’ standings with three victories. Miller and Darmstadt look to continue their strong play heading into the Senior Championship held at Southern Hills Plantation Golf Club, April 13-15.

The Winter Series events include eight competitions, six individual events and two four-ball events. There are three age divisions, Mid-Senior (40-54), Senior (55-64) and Super Senior (65 & over). The Winter Series is a great opportunity for golfers to compete in competitive events that normally may not because they do not live in Florida year round.
