Stockton, California (August 2, 2009) -- For the second year in a row an incoming Pacific golf captain set the standard by winning the Stockton City Championship. Patrick Kucich used a 69-70 to take the two-day tournament.
Last season it was Kucich's teammate Charlie Van Sicklen that won the Stockton City Championship the month before he took over as captain of the Pacific Golf team; this time around Kucich showed his worth by shooting a two-day score of 139 at Stockton's Van Buskirk and Swenson golf courses.
Local standout Ryan Carter finished second at 141 while another former Tiger, AJ Hohn took third place.
"It was pretty close to textbook golf," said Kucich. "I only made three bogies on the weekend and then made my birdies on the par 5's (scoring holes)."
Kucich and the Tigers get their 2009-10 season going in only three weeks from today and play their first tournament at Firestone County Club in Ohio.
