BRADENTON, FL (July 12, 2009)--The team of Kelly Gosse and Tim Hume fired a final round 65 to win the 60th Florida State Four-Ball Championship at The Ritz-Carlton Members Golf Club in Bradenton on July 11-12.

Kelly Gosse, of Inverness, and Tim Hume, from Tampa, posted a tournament total of 14-under par 130 to win the 2009 Championship. After a first round 65 on the Ritz-Carlton Members Golf Club, the duo was tied for the lead entering the final round. Playing in the final round, Gosse and Hume played another solid round of golf carding a final round 65 to secure the victory by one stroke. Hume was this year’s Mid-Amateur Stroke Play Champion, and the duo finished second in the Mid-Amateur Four-Ball North Championship earlier this year.

Defending Champions Major Forbess, of Jacksonville and Chris Kennedy, of Bradenton finished in second place with a tournament total of 13 under par 131. The duo carded the low round of the tournament with a final round 64, to secure second place. Steve Carter, from Saint Augustine, and Jon Veneziano, from Eustis, finished with a tournament total of 12 under par 132 recording a 66-66 for the two rounds for a third place finish.

From June 15-July 1, the Florida State Golf Association conducted eight qualifying tournaments for amateur golfers trying to advance to the Championship at The Ritz-Carlton Members Golf Club. In the Championship, players competed 36 holes on The Ritz-Carlton Members Golf Club. In four-ball stroke play, two competitors play as partners, each playing his own ball. The lower score of the partners is the score for the hole.
